Pat Sloan About This Month's Block
Block #8 is all about Camping Activities! I got to thinking about this when my friends with small children told me they were going to camping. They went with several families for a few days and she mentioned the fun they had with camp activities.
I looked around and there are loads of great activity lists .. here are a few that I love:
1. Scavenger Hunts – How fun are these! When I take cruises they even do them on the ship. It’s really fun to spot the teenagers looking for items to photograph and take back, trying to look cool while having a lot of fun! Download a free Scavenger hunt sheet at: http://www.papertraildesign.com/camping-scavenger-hunt-printable/
2. Camping Olympics – Create games like a relay race, swimming competitions, and maybe the most rocks collected.. no wait.. that might get crazy!
3. Glow-in-the-Dark Ring Toss – Keep it fun all night long!
4. Camping Bingo – Fun for everyone to play. Download is also at the link above.
15 camping games – details on the ones above at:

We quilters are a resourceful bunch when it comes to quilting at camp.
Personally I like to take handwork. It might be embroider, hand applique, or hand piecing.
But I’ve seen quite a few nifty camp ground setups with your sewing machine plugged in and you are humming away over at the picnic table!
Being able to sewing outside, by hand or machine, is divine. The breeze, the fresh air, the sunshine…. sitting outside is one of my favorite things to do. I have even taken my machine out on my deck, plugged it in, and sewed outside for a few hours on a beautiful day. It’s kind of like camping at home.

Hello! My name is Betsy, owner of Fabric Hutch. Sewing was a tradition in my family and I started my own sewing journey when I was 8 years old, continuing to take classes, and collect fabrics, throughout junior high, high school, and college.
The idea for my business started after a visit to a local thrift store with my sister. In the furniture section, I spotted a maple hutch like furniture my parents had when I was a child. It was a lovely piece of furniture, with lots of doors, shelves, drawers...perfect for stashing fabrics and notions. After a week of serious contemplation, I returned to the store, purchased the cabinet, and brought it home. With a little tender loving care, the hutch cleaned up nicely, and I promptly stuffed it with all of my sewing goodies.
While I loved having my own fabric hutch, I started wondering if it could serve as something more...perhaps a place where others might find fabric treasures for their own sewing projects? Having recently discovered a love of quilting, I decided to start an online fabric shop specializing in quilting fabrics. In 2014, my dream became a reality, and the Fabric Hutch has been providing quilting enthusiasts with a reliable source of high quality fabrics ever since!
