Pat Sloan About Our Year of Celebrating Camping in Her 2018 Mystery
Block #2 is called ‘Around the Campfire’ which can bring up all kinds of memories and future things we can do as we get ready for our next camping trip!
My first thought is a wonderful summer evening, the big pit is fired up with logs all around it where everyone can sit. Our campfire at girl scout camp was just like that, such a great memory of building new friendships.
Another of my campfire memories is about my (not yet) husband. He was always claiming his wilderness training taught him how to start a fire without matches but with ‘things’ he had. I don’t seem to remember any demo of this … mmmm…. But… there might to be some reality to this claim .. I spotted this article at ‘The Art of Manliness.’
What other types of campfires might we have?
• How about at the beach, a big pit with the moon over the ocean? I love that idea!
• Modern day camping stoves replace campfires for cooking. But I think we still need those sparks at night, they are so pretty to watch.
• I’m sort of an urban, don’t-get-the-bugs-&-dirt-near-me kind of girl, myself. So how about a campfire without leaving home? The fire pits let us take a mini vacation any night we want to! Our favorite local garden has a gorgeous fire pit where you can buy a hot chocolate and hang out, it’s so fun!
My second thought about a camp fires is Camp fire songs! Hello more girl scout memories!
I really cannot remember all the things we sang beside the regular girl scout ones. So I did a little searching and came up with a list:
Camp fire Song Sites
• Ultimate resource for camp songs with Silly Camp songs… Yes!
• Songs for teaching campfire songs.
• 50 great campfire songs for kids.
• Girl Scout camping songs – 5 five every girl scout should know like the classic ‘Make New Friends’!
What is YOUR favorite thing about camp fires? Tell me in the comments!

I have well over 30 years of sewing expertise along with many years of knitting, crochet and weaving experience. Steve is a PFAFF factory trained service technician and all machines are serviced on-site. And both Steve and I are veterans. In fact, we met while stationed in Germany.
