Pat Sloan About This Month's Block - Your Space Playlist!
When I decided on a playlist for this month, the very first song that came to mind was the theme to Space Oddity by David Bowie. I remember being totally fascinated by this song when it came out. It was so different than what I normally listened to:

Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six)
Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three)
Check ignition and may God's love be with you (two, one, liftoff)

Next song on my Space playlist is Rocket Man by Elton John. All flash and who knew it would become a classic rock song?

I’ll wrap up my top three with The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. I believe my brother played this album on repeat in the room next to me for months.

And I found an Astronaut play list, this is a fun group of songs!

Second Group: The Classics
When I’m researching each topic I find things that are interesting. Like the group Public Service Broadcasting and their album The Race For Space.

They are a British alternative group who did this album that tells the story of the American and Soviet space race from 1957–1972. The opening plays the speech by John F Kennedy on Sept 12, 1962 at Rice University.

You can listen to the opening and the song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZyLwfrDyjc

My quote this month:

"The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do."  - Galileo Galilei

Quilting Sew Easy, Gaffney, South Carolina

Why don't you drop by and we'll introduce you to the first quilt store in Cherokee County in over 25 years. It might just bring back a bunch of those good feelings you had as a child while watching your grandmother or great-grandmother as they created unique quilts touched by loving hands.

Veteran quilter Ann Barnhill is pleased to offer classes specifically designed to help each person learn to quilt or improve their technique, regardless of whether they have quilted or even know how to sew.

Even beginners can learn how quilting can provide satisfaction and hours of gratification as they create something that will probably become a family heirloom.
