by Corey Yoder

Mini quilts are so cute!  This Mini Buds quilt is by Corey Yoder of Little Miss Shabby and she has created a very nice downloadable pattern for us. Have fun with this one, more from Corey:

"A lot of you have been waiting very patiently for the release of 2 new Playful Petals freebie patterns–and today is the day for the Mini Buds pattern. =)

"Mini Buds is a little 15″ mini quilt that makes quick use of a mini charm pack (or 2.5″ squares) and a bit of yardage. It is designed to be used in conjunction with Playful Petals, using the techniques outlined in the book. And, it’s a little thank you to all of you who support my blog, have purchased by book, and have given a lot of encouragement over the years. Thank you!!"

FREE Tutorial - Sudoku Quilt by Carole

- Click Image to Enlarge -
Got a head for numbers?  You probably enjoy the challenge of beating the numbers at sudoku, and today's project will appeal to you!  Or if you know someone who loves the game, this would be a wonderful gift.  Carole of From My Carolina Home created this project and the detailed tutorial you will need to create your own.  More from Carole:

"This is such an easy quilt to make, but it does take some planning and a lot of care in assembly. Sudoku is a type of puzzle where there are nine nine-patches, and each number or fabric appears only once in a nine-patch, and only once in any row or column across three nine-patches

"The great thing about this pattern is it has all straight seams, and all squares. It is easy enough for a beginner, but does have a bit of challenge to get the pattern correct. You can make them any size you want, which makes using pre-cuts like layer cakes and jelly rolls possible. You just need nine different fabrics, cut into nine squares of each print."

Finished Size: 32" x 32" (81cm x 81cm)

FREE Tutorial - Liberated (Emergency)
Baby Quilt by Leanne

- Click Image to Enlarge -
Have you ever been under the gun on a quilt project, desperately looking for any shortcuts you might be able to take but needing to make a great quilt?  Leanne of She Can Quilt has been there, and her answer was to go 'wonky' with her blocks, and the result was wonderful!  She created this quilt for a friend's baby but also submitted it for a Finish-a-long for her friend Rhonda at Quilter in the Gap.  More from Leanne:

"This style of making blocks is, for me, far faster than traditional piecing and since each block will be different, it makes each quilt a unique one-of-a-kind piece. This quilt uses Shoo Fly blocks on the front and Stars on the back."

FREE Tutorial - I Spy Quilt by Tonya Grant

- Click Image to Enlarge -

What a fantastic quilt for kids!  There is a lot going on with this design, enough to keep an inquisitive young mind busy for quite a while.  This design is by Tonya Grant of The Crafty Mummy and the tutorial nicely details everything you'll need for this project.  Good for any level quilter!  More from Tonya:

"My kids each have a quilt that sits on their bed and this is the one that I made for Mr Happy. It is called an I Spy Quilt because there is a collection of novelty prints that encourage kids to look for things or play “I Spy” with it. It is bright and colourful and fun. I made it a couple of years ago but I thought I’d share the pattern. I used a dark navy print between the bright blocks, but this would also look good with a solid colour for the strips or white strips. The strips at the top would also look great in the favourites of your novelty prints or even a border print."
