by Christa Watson

Tis the season for bow-tie block quilts, and we can't get enough!  This project is by Christa Watson of Christa's Quilts, and was originally featured on her site as a quilt-along.  She goes into excellent detail in every step, so this is a great project for a beginner.  The project is a couple years old, so you may have trouble finding the fabrics she used, but we're sure you'll have fun putting together your own colorway.  More from Christa:

"Hugs and Kisses is an updated version of a previous design from 12+ years ago. I made the original quilt in spicy reds, oranges and yellows for my husband who is hot stuff! The newer version in soft pretty pinks (with all x blocks) was made for my sweet daughter

"If you look closely, it’s similar to the quilt shown on my blog’s header. Over the years I’ve had several requests for this quilt pattern, so I finally decided to make one!  I designed this quilt using EQ7 so that it will work with Jelly Rolls or precut strips."

Finished Size: 48" x 64" (122cm x 163cm)

by Jan DiCintio

What a simple and charming design!  We love the progression of color and the way the patterns interact with the structure of the cuts!  This project comes to us from Jan DiCintio of Daisy Janie, and the downloadable pattern is very easy to follow.  Have fun with this one! More from Jan:

"I'm super excited to share this free downloadable pattern with you today!

"With 8 fat quarters (plus backing & binding fabrics), you can make this simple and pretty Garden Ladder Lap Quilt. In my mock-up, I used 1 fat quarter from each of the 8 fabric designs in Daisy Janie's Tilly organic fabric collection. Tilly is inspired by my Mom, her 1970s garden and flowery decor, and I was eager to design a FQ lap quilt pattern that drew from that same garden vibe. I really like the natural flow throughout, and from one side to the other."
